GLANCDA Supports Local Community College Automotive Technician Programs

The Greater Los Angeles New Car Dealers Association (GLANCDA) continues its strong commitment to workforce development by supporting local community college automotive technician programs. In May and June 2025, GLANCDA awarded $500 Snap-On Tool gift certificates to five outstanding students from each of four local schools: Citrus College, Rio Hondo College, Pasadena City College, and Los Angeles Trade-Technical College. These scholarships recognize the hard work and potential of students preparing to enter the highly skilled field of automotive technology.
These community colleges have established themselves as essential workforce development partners, helping to prepare the next generation of automotive technicians. Many students from these programs are already working or interning at new car dealerships across Los Angeles County. With more than 300 new car dealerships in the region, the demand for well-trained, committed technicians remains high, reflecting a technician shortage that affects dealerships nationwide. Entry-level technicians benefit from strong starting wages, ongoing training opportunities, and clear career advancement pathways.
GLANCDA prioritizes workforce development as a key benefit for its dealer members, ensuring a steady pipeline of qualified technicians to meet growing service needs. Beyond workforce support, GLANCDA also advocates on behalf of new car dealers and their OEM partners, working to ensure that regulations remain balanced and not overly burdensome. Through these combined efforts in education, workforce development, and advocacy, GLANCDA continues to strengthen the automotive retail industry in Los Angeles.
